ADV Film's David Williams has confirmed that ADV has acquired Oh! Great's Air Gear. The company will distribute the uncut home video version of the 25-episode anime.
(Source: www.icv2.com) ADV's David Williams announced that his company will distribute the 25-episode Air Gear anime, based on the shonen manga by Oh! Great (Tenjou Tenge). There is as yet no word on a release date. Oh! Great (real name Ogure Ito) first created Air Gear in 2002. It follows the story of 15-year-old Minami “Ikki” Itsuki, who mysteriously acquires a pair of "Air Trecks," powered inline skates that allow the wearer to defy gravity. He uses these to enter a competition, hoping to eventually gain the coveted title of Sky King. Del Rey already licensed the Air Gear manga for sale in the U.S. and Canada. The first issue hit shelves on July 25, 2006, with sequels following every 3 months. Williams confirmed that ADV will release the home video version of Air Gear. This version includes several sequences featuring nudity, which were covered up when the anime originally aired on late-night TV Tokyo from April to September of 2006. However, the DVD version still uses Ikki's pet crow to censor some images. Like Tenjou Tenge, Air Gear features several well-endowed female characters such as Ringo, Ikki's love interest.
