In an informal poll, Los Angeles Business readers selected 1942's Bambi as their favourite Disney animated movie, running off with 21% of the vote.
The classic flick about a baby deer won by a whisker, grabbing 1% more than Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Disney's first full-length animated film. 1950's Cinderella was the third place finisher, taking 12%. The "Other" category (various unlisted Disney films) took 4th with 9% of the vote, closely followed by The Lion King, the highest-ranked film from Disney's 1990's "animated revival."
Rounding out the list was 1991's Beauty and the Beast (7%), the recently-reissued The Little Mermaid (5%) and 1940's Fantasia (4%). Pinocchio, Peter Pan and 101 Dalmations each took 3%.
The "Other" category was a mixed bag, with 1992's Aladdin, 1941's Dumbo, Fun & Fancy Free (1947's duo of animated shorts), 1955's Lady & the Tramp, 1959's Sleeping Beauty and the highly-controversial Song of the South being praised by voters.
