The box office, like life, rarely grants second chances. However, Paramount's Barnyard: The Original Party Animals jumped back into the middle of the Top 10, rising to the 7th spot. The animated movie made $4,891,459, bringing its 5-week total to $62,080,221. That's $12 million over its production cost of $50 million. This makes Barnyard the only mid-summer animated release to actually make back what the studio paid for it.

Sony's Monster House is inching its way towards profitability. It made $795,546, totalling $70,577,979 over its 7-week run. This would be very good news, except for the fact that the film cost $75 million to make.

Right above Monster House at #19 was Disney/Pixar's Cars, which quietly added another $849,014 to its box office take. It has now made $241,743,295. Cars has handily won the Best Box Office of the year (Animated Division) award.

Warner Bros.' The Ant Bully is sliding towards ignominy with a measly $560,510 added to its total. The film cost $50 million to make, it's now made $26,505,664.

The only new animated film in the near future will be Fox's Everyone's Hero, due on September 15. This film was the late Christopher (Superman) Reeves' last project.
