Pixar animated film improves its Monday and Tuesday box office.
Source:IMDb) Disney's plan to push Cars' theatrical debut from November (Pixar's usual release date) to June appears to have paid off. The animated movie raked in $6,445,000 on Monday and $5,820,000 on Tuesday. Pixar's previous film, 2004's The Incredibles took in $3,802,000 and $3,213,000 on its first Monday and Tuesday, respectively. It's believed that releasing Cars in June (when schools are out for the summer) helped inflate the movie's mid-week numbers. Cars made $60.1 million on its first weekend, below the $70 million analysts had projected. If it maintains its first week pace, it could out-gross The Incredibles, Pixar's biggest hit to date.
