Adam Sandler's Click stops Cars' reign at the box office top. Over the Hedge still hangs on at 10th place.
(Source:Box Office Mojo) Cars finally dropped out of top spot after two weeks, giving its title to Adam Sandler's Click. The Disney/Pixar animated film easily hung onto 2nd stop with little competition from either Nacho Libre (which lost 61% of its audience from the previous weekend) or Waist Deep, which opened to too few theatres to be a credible threat. Cars' total box office is now $155,923,000 after 3 weeks. In other animated movie news, Fox's Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties (which I refused to review: see why here) slipped to 7th spot with $4,750,000 ($16,023,000 total) and Dreamworks' Over the Hedge stubbornly hung onto 10th with $2,731,000 ($144,493,000). This now makes Cars the top grossing animated film of the summer season. Here are last weekend's Top 5 movies: - Click (Sony): $40,000,000 - Cars (Disney/Pixar): $22,540,000 - Nacho Libre (Paramount): $12,138,000 - Waist Deep (): $9,452,000 - The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (Universal): $9,211,000
