Voice of Les Shadoks dead at age 83.
(Source:bcdb.com) Veteran voice and screen actor Claude Pieplu has died at age 83, his family announced Thursday. Pieplu was best known as the high-pitched voice of the beloved French animated series Les Shadoks, which was about strange birdlike creatures from another planet. Les Shadoks first aired in 1968, with sequels appearing in 1970 and 1973. He also appeared in 2000 TV series Les Shadoks et le Big Blank. He also narrated the 1986 TV series Les Matics. Pieplu also worked in live-action film, appearing in Luis Bunuel's 1972 movie The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and played Getafix in the 1999 movie Asterix and Obelix versus Caesar, based on the famous comic series by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. He earned a César nomination (the French equivalent of the Oscar) for Best Supporting Actor for his work as the Professor in 1986's Le Paltoquet.
