Lionsgate brings The Best of the Clifford the Big Red Dog in a special moulded "dog's head" packaging. The 5-DVD set will feature 42 Clifford episodes (each with two 11-minute featurettes), revolving around Clifford, his owner Emily Elizabeth, and his canine pals T-Bone and Cleo. The box also features several Clifford-style games and activities for the young 'uns. The whole shebang will cost parents $34.98.

Norman Bridwell wrote the first Clifford books in 1963, and its success was instrumental in establishing Scholastic Books as a top children's publisher. PBS put together an animated television series in 2000, featuring comedian John Ritter (Three's Company) voicing the role of Clifford. The series ran until September 11, 2003, when Ritter died.
