BCI will bring all 27 episodes of the Dungeons & Dragons animated television series to a 4-volume DVD on December 5.
(Source: Toon Zone) BCI announced that they will bring the animated television series Dungeons & Dragons to DVD on December 5. All 27 episodes will be on a 5-disc set. MSRP will be $49.98.. The series, based on Jack Chick's favourite role-playing game, followed six RPG fans who get mysteriously sucked into the D&D world where they must fight various monsters in order to survive. The 5th disc will feature a number of bonus features, including a half-hour documentary "Entering the Realm of Dungeons & Dragons," commentary tracks for two episodes, a "choose your own adventure" DVD game, alternate and rare footage, Easter eggs, and more. A hardcover RPG supplement is also included with the box set, created exclusively by Wizards of the Coast (D&D's current owners). It includes 32 character sheets and a brand-new adventure. "As we continue to build our catalog of classic animated series from the '70s and '80s, the industry is taking note of the success of these titles," said BCI's Director of Acquisitions Jeff Hayne in the company's press release. "We're fortunate to have this unique opportunity to market Dungeons & Dragons to the same audience that has been enjoying our most recent animated programming." Marvel Comics and CBS produced the Dungeons & Dragons animated series, which ran from 1983 to 1986. It featured the voices of Donny Most (Ralph Malph on Happy Days) and Eight Is Enough co-stars Willie Aames and Adam Rich. The success of the series also inspired the 2000 feature film, an unintentional comedy starring Jeremy Irons, Marlon Wayans and Thora Birch.
