More animated stuff coming to DVD.
(Source:dvdtoons.com) There's a bunch of stuff coming at you in DVD format, to make your lips smile and your credit card cry. Here's a quick run-down of what and when is coming: - Galaxy High: Volume 1 (Mediablaster): The 1980's cartoon of two earthling teenagers who go to an intergalactic high school. It only ran for one season, but was a proving ground for Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter) and John Krisfalusi (Ren and Stimpy). Music from former Eagle Don Felder. Due June 27, but according to Mediablaster, Volume 2 is apparently due on June 25. I'll keep an eye on this one. - Golden Age of Cartoons: Aesop's Fables (Mackinac): 1930's animated takes on Aesop's Fables, starring such classic cartoon luminaries like Betty Boop and Popeye. Due June 13. - He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Season 2, Volume 1 (BCI): I always wondered why somebody would call himself "He-Man." Maybe he needed to compensate for something? I never did like this show. Due June 6 (Hey, 6/6/6!) - Justice League: Season 2 (WB): Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and all your heroic friends battle evil and wear tight clothing. There's been some decent buzz around this set; the WB know how to package a DVD. Due June 20. - Nick Picks#4 (Paramount): Featured episodes from 7 different shows including SpongeBob Squarepants, The Fairly OddParents, My Life as a Teenage Robot and The X's. The latter show is its DVD debut, according to Paramount. Due June 6 (a lot of studios are jumping on this 6/6/6 thing). - Superman: Brainiac Attacks (WB): A highly-anticipated DVD featuring The Man of Steel taking on one of his more fearsome villains. Due June 20. UPDATE: This film will air on the Cartoon Network Saturday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m.(ET/PT). Thanks to Comics2film for the heads-up. - This is America, Charlie Brown (Paramount): The Peanuts gang gets patriotic. Advance buzz on this DVD is less-than-enthusiastic, but I'm sure Charles Schultz's classic creations have suffered worse. Due June 13. - Viewtiful Joe: Volume 3 (Geneon): Regular schmoe is forced to become an action hero when a villain pops out of a movie screen and steals Joe's girlfriend. Due June 6 (same day as some movie about a kid who may be the Anti-Christ). That's all for now. See you on June 6, when I *won't* be watching The Omen remake.
