Starz/Encore Action Channel will debut 25-episode anime of Saiyuki Reload on Wednesday, November 8th. Anime based on classic Chinese novel, Journey to the West.
(Source: www.icv2.com) Saiyuki Reload, the 25-episode sequel to Kazuya Minekura's Saiyuki anime/manga, will make its North American debut on Starz/Encore Action pay cable channel. The first episode will air at midnight, on Wednesday November 8th (ET, PT). Saiyuki, also called Gensomaden Saiyuki, follows the adventures of four fighters as they investigate why demons, which previously co-existed with humans in Shangri-La, have suddenly gone insane. The story is loosely based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, which was first published in 1590. The novel, believed to have been written by scholar Wu Cheng'en, has also inspired the anime/mangas Dragon Ball and Monkey Typhoon. ADV released the Saiyuki anime in North America, while Geneon released both Saiyuki Reload and Saiyuki Gunlock on DVD (the 4th volume of Saiyuki Gunlock comes out October 24th). Meanwhile, Studio Pierrot (Saiyuki's Japanese producer) announced that they will start work on an OVA (original video animation) of Saiyuki Reload: Burial.
