Everyone's Hero slides into 5thweekend box office from an animated perspective
Everyone's Hero slides to 5th as French anime Renaissance debuts in the 89th spot.
(Source: Box Office Mojo) Last weekend was a relatively weak affair for animated film as Fox's Everyone's Hero slid to 5th place in the Top 10. No one's saying how much this film cost to make but $11 million over two weeks isn't the smoking debut everyone was hoping for, even with Christopher (Superman) Reeve's name in the credits. In other animated news, Miramax brought Onyx Films' Renaissance over from France to a less-than-stunning $10,800 in its first weekend. Factor in that this flick came in with almost no publicity, and only showed in 2 theatres. Most reviewers extolled Renaissance's anime-influenced imagery, even as they decried its clichéd story and characters. It remains to be seen whether Miramax decides to risk a wide release for this film; it may take a gamble on the presence of Daniel Craig, the latest actor to don James Bond's tuxedo. Or it may not. Here's the complete list: 5) Everyone's Hero (Fox): $4,690,466 ($11,534,837 over 2 weeks) 14) Barnyard: The Original Party Animals (Par.): $1,303,545 ($70,706,226 total over 8 weeks) 24) Monster House (Sony): $365,488 ($72,314,890 over 10 weeks) 26) Cars (B.V.): $318,716 ($243,469,180 over 16 weeks) 35) The Ant Bully (W.B.): $181,844 ($27,520,040 over 9 weeks) 65) Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties: $19,314 ($28,424,210 over 15 weeks) 89) Renaissance (Miramax: $10,800 (1st week) 96) A Scanner Darkly (W.I.P): $7,174, ($5,469,745 over 12 weeks)
