Once again, blame Canada! It turns out that a merry prankster had downloaded a Canadian broadcast of Family Guy on video sharing site YouTube, raising the possibility that the popular animated show had somehow aired uncensored in some American markets.
On Monday, September 26, Lew Irwin of IMDb said that, "Details of how it occurred were not available this morning (Monday), but somehow the use of the F-word during Sunday night's broadcast of Family Guy got on the air in at least some markets. In other areas it was bleeped. The unedited version of the scene, however, was quickly posted on YouTube.com by a viewer who comment, 'The F-bomb was heard plain as day.' Another predicted that someone at the network is going to be 'in some deep schtick.'"
What the original YouTube poster failed to mention was that the offending clip was taken from a Teletoon broadcast of the show, which only aired in Canada. Canadian networks, such as Teletoon, are allowed to air shows uncensored after prime time.
All American broadcasters bleeped the offending word in accordance with FCC regulations.
