Finding Nemo is Pixar's 2003 CGI Animated FilmAn Over Protective Clownfish Races to Rescue his Son from CaptivityMarlin has endured his losses, his wife Coral and most of his children. Now he has only his son Nemo. He takes on the whole ocean when his son is taken by divers.
Clownfish Marlin races from his home on the Great Barrier Reef to rescue his son Nemo from Sidney after he is taken off the reef by divers. Along the way he encounters sharks, box jellyfish and whales. Finding Nemo's Plot and Characters Clownfish Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) and his wife Coral (Elizabeth Perkins) are about to have a number of children, when they are attacked by a barracuda. Marlin is knocked unconscious, and after he wakes up he discovers that Coral is gone (presumably eaten) and so are the eggs. He finds one left and names the unborn fish Nemo. Sometime later Nemo (Alexander Gould) is excited about his first day of school and is worried that his overprotective father will embarrass him. Whilst trying to prove to his father that the ocean is not as dangerous as he thinks it is, Nemo swims out to a boat, and is captured by a pair of divers. Marlin races after the boat but soon loses it. A fish named Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) offers to show him which way the boat went, but it quickly becomes evident that she has short term memory loss. Meanwhile, Nemo wakes up in a tank with several other fish consisting of Gill (Willem Defoe), Bloat (Brad Garrett), Jacques (Joe Ranft), Deb/Flo (Vicki Lewis), Peach (Allison Janney), Bubbles (Stephen Root), and Gurgle (Austin Pendleton). Gil is determined to escape his confinement and escape back to the ocean, although, his escape attempts have always resulted in failure. In the ocean Marlin and Dory race to Sidney to rescue Nemo Delightful Underwater AdventureFinding Nemo is set in a wonderfully colourful world that the film’s young audience will simply love. Each character in the film has its own distinct personality and language which makes each a delight to watch. Pixar animations (again, unlike DreamWorks) tend to focus primarily on the story instead of the voice cast. Willem Defoe is the only easily recognisable voice in the film, though fans of the previous Pixar films may recognise the voices of actors who have appeared in Toy Story and Monsters Inc. The film is very funny, with Dory providing much of the entertainment as the scatty, yet relentlessly cheerful companion who completely counters the miserable Marlin. There are numerous characters that give Finding Nemo its charm, like the French shrimp Jacques - he also very funny - as he regularly speaks French then has to repeat himself this time in English. Pixar Studios lead the field of CGI animation. DreamWorks have had some successes but no studio is able to produce beautifully crafted computer generated animation as well as Pixar. Finding Nemo is a joy to watch and children and adults alike will be captivated by the clownfish doing anything and everything to rescue his child. There are obviously a few life lessons to be learned along the way. The jokes come thick and fast, and Finding Nemo is the best underwater animation to date. Finding Nemo was a box office hit, even scooping an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and it is easy to see why. 9/10 Charming tale that will appeal to both children and adults.
