Fox Animation announced that they have acquired the rights to, and will produce an animated feature film based on, William Joyce's The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs.

The story follows a band of bugs as they look for the mythical Leaf Men to help them save their garden.

Author Joyce (Rolie Polie Olie) is adapting the book for the film, along with James V. Hart (Muppet Treasure Island, Bram Stoker's Dracula).

Chris Wedge (Ice Age, Robots) is attached to direct the movie. He was originally supposed to develop Tor Seidler's children's book Wainscott Weasel, but the studio says they have since shelved the project.

The Disney Company is also producing a William Joyce book. Meet the Robinsons, due in theatres on March 30, 2007, is based on Joyce's A Day with Wilbur Robinson.
