FUNimation has acquired the U.S. rights for Black Cat, a teen-rated anime produced by Gonzo. Shin Itagaki is the anime's director

Black Cat is based on the Viz manga, written by Kentaro Yabuki. It's about an assassin for a secret organization, called Chronos. The assassin, nicknamed the Black Cat for his feline abilities, gains new respect for human life after he falls in love with Saya, a bounty hunter.

Viz (under its Shonen Jump imprint) released the manga in the U.S. this year to strong response. Volume 2 reached the #8 on BookScan's graphic novel's chart on May 7.
