Warner Bros. announced that they will not present their animated musical comedy Happy Feet on IMAX 3-D. Instead, the movie will only play on IMAX 2-D, as well as in regular cinemas.

Warner Bros.' official reason is that they couldn't convert Happy Feet to 3-D in time to meet the film's November 17 release date. However, some sources claimed that W.B. got cold feet when the studio realized that the 3-D conversion would add another $10 million to Happy Feet's estimated $85 million price tag.

Warner Bros. hasn't ruled out the possibility of offering the film in 3-D at a later date (presuming it does well at the box office).

Happy Feet stars the voice of Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings) as a penguin who turns to tap-dancing when he realizes he can't sing. The movie also features the voice talents of Robin Williams (RV), Brittany Murphy (Sin City), Hugh Jackman (X-Men), Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge) and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix).
