Ian McShane, who voices the villainous Al Swearengen in HBO's Deadwood, will voice roles in 3 upcoming films.
First off, he joins Dakota Fanning and Teri Hatcher in Laika's upcoming animated feature Coraline, playing "a sad Russian giant," as he puts it.
"It's a small part, but it's lovely," McShane says. "Those things are fun to do, they really are. You go in a day and it's a chance to do something different, play around, and exercise your voice."
He also voices the previously silent Captain Hook in Dreamworks' upcoming Shrek 3.
"They've done Captain Hook before like in the background playing the piano," he says, "but Captain Hook finally speaks, so it's something my grandkids can finally see."
Finally, McShane joins Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black in Kung-Fu Panda. He will voice snow leopard Tai Lung, the villain of the movie.
The actor can be seen opposite Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johansonn in Woody Allen's live-action film Scoop.
