Marvel Comics will debut an Iron Man cartoon series on The Cartoon Network during the fall of 2007.

This cartoon is supposed to prime the fanboy pump for the live-action Iron Man movie, directed by Jon Favreau (Elf). That film is scheduled for a May 2, 2008 release.

Iron Man follows the adventures of billionaire Tony Stark. After a life-threatening injury, Stark designs and builds an armoured exoskeleton that gives the wearer superhuman strength as well as other abilities.

Iron Man's marketing strategy is identical to the one Marvel did for its Fantastic Four franchise. An associated cartoon series will play on The Cartoon Network this fall, also nine months before Fantastic Four 2 (also known as Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer) comes to theatres in May 2007.
