The Jim Henson Company is pitching a new talk show to the TBS cable network. Called Late Night Buffet, it's a highly-improvised talk show, featuring human guest stars. To fit the timeslot, the show will have a more adult sensibility, similar to Jim Henson's Puppet Improv launched earlier this year.

TBS has ordered a half-hour pilot episode of Late Night Buffet, set to tape in front of a live studio audience on July 22 in Hollywood. If TBS likes what they see, Late Night Buffet will join TBS' roster of late-night cable shows which will air in 2007.

No classic Muppet Show characters, like Kermit the Frog, will be a part of this new show since Disney owns the rights to those properties. Instead, head muppeteers Brian Henson and Bill Baretta will develop new characters, such as host Augustus Pfiffle and sidekick Delbert Kastle. The house band, tentatively titled Gina Cappellini and her Pet Monkeys, will also be muppets.
