A first look at the more sophisticated graphic that will accompany every future Walt Disney Picture.
(Source: Animated News) Just for yuks and giggles, here's a first look at the new "sophisticated" logo for Walt Disney Pictures, involving a computer-generated Cinderella's Castle. Obviously, Disney is not-so-subtly reminding everyone that they are, and will continue to be, the top dogs in animation. Not only do they control CG powerhouse Pixar (or does Pixar control *their* animation department?) but their distribution deal with Studio Ghibli, home of Hayao Miyazaki, gives them the inside track on Japanese anime. This is important, since Disney's track record for animation has taken a beating. The fact remains that Disney has not had a non-Pixar animated hit in over 10 years. Unfortunately, Cars was not the powerhouse blockbuster Disney executives were hoping for, barely limping past the $200 million mark when analysts were originally predicting it would take close to $300 million. If you want to see the full animation of this new logo, go to any theatre showing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. What do you think?
