Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know the big story last weekend: Spider-Man 3 managed to rise above some less-than-stellar reviews to become the biggest opening in movie history (or at least until the next big summer blockbuster hits). But what did animated flicks do in the face of the Spider-onslaught?

Surprisingly, the only movie that didn't take a downward slide against the mighty web slinger was Disney's Meet the Robinsons. The good news was that the Stephen J. Anderson animated film held at #7. The downside was that Spider-Man 3 did take a chunk out of Meet the Robinsons' profits: the flick made $2.6 million at the box office, for a 6-week total of $91.9 million. That means Meet the Robinsons needs to make $9 million in two weeks, if it wants to be a $100 million flick.

Why two weeks? Well, that's when DreamWorks' Shrek the Third lumbers into theatres, and Meet the Robinsons is pretty much sunk.

Looking further down the list, Warner/Imagi's TMNT plummeted from #22 to #31, making $119,000 in its 7th week. The fact that this movie struggled to make even $53 million in its time in theatres pretty much confirms that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is dead, dead, dead. At this rate, I doubt even a direct-to-DVD sequel will be in the offering.

What can be said about First Look's Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters that hasn't been said already? Dropping from #29 to #50, even its core audience hates it, $5.4 million in 4 weeks . . . okay, move along now.

Amazingly, both Happy Feet and Arthur and the Invisibles still show up on this chart. Warner Bros.' Happy Feet hasn't managed to make $200 million (blockbuster territory) in 25 weeks in theatres; it's stalled at $198 million, losing out to Pixar's Cars ($245 million in its time in theatres). However, Happy Feet scored the Oscar, so director George Miller can still wave that in John Lasseter's face.

As for Arthur and the Invisibles, that movie is only sticking around (currently at #73) out of sheer pity. Despite a pretty big media campaign leading up to its January release, the Luc Besson flick tanked with North American audiences, making only $15.1 million in its 19 weeks in theatres. I don't know what Arthur and the Invisibles' overseas numbers were, but this spells 'bomb' in any language. Yep, Madonna scores another flop.

Extra Bit: I know it's a live-action flick but definitely go see Hot Fuzz. It's genius!
