Honesty time: I was never that big a fan of the series collectively known as Rocky and Bullwinkle. In my not-so-humble opinion, the animation was crude and the jokes generally flew under my head. Even as a little kid, I'd give the show a fast five minutes, and then wonder when next I could see Bugs Bunny torment Elmer Fudd.

Be that as it may, Dreamworks Animation thinks they can turn R&B spin-off Mr. Peabody & Sherman into a feature-length CG flick. Not only that, they've hired Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little) to direct. There's no word on when this movie will hit theatres.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman was a series of tiny shorts within Rocky and Bullwinkle. It put an absurdist spin on the hoary "boy and his dog" concept: canine Mr. Peabody was the brains of the outfit, using his WABAC (pronounced "wayback") machine to make sure history happened as it should. At the end of each episode, "pet boy" Sherman would deliver a gawd-awful pun, to which Mr. Peabody would give the classic catchphrase, "Quiet you."

Mr. Peabody & Sherman will also reunite Minkoff with Jeffrey Katzenberg, who also worked on The Lion King.
