Mike Johnson replaces Sylvain Chomet on animated film The Tale of Despereux

Mike Johnson, who shared an Oscar nomination with Tim Burton for Corpse Bride, is replacing Sylvain Chomet as director for Universal Pictures' animation feature The Tale of Despereux. Chomet found he was unable to direct Despereux while simultaneously working on another animated film, based on a screenplay by the late Jacques Tati.
The movie is based on Kate DiCamillo's novel, which won the Newbury Medal for best children's fiction in 2004.
