Nickelodeon orders 20 more episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, placing the show in its 3rd season.
Source:ICv2) File this under "definitely saw this coming." Nickelodeon has ordered 20 more episodes of the hugely-popular series Avatar: The Last Airbender. This will put the show into its 3rd season, with 60 total episodes. Also, an hour long Avatar movie, The Fury of Aang, will debut on Nickelodeon on Friday, July 14th at 8pm (ET, PT). The series, which debuted on February 21, 2005, has become the #1 animated series in all TV among boys aged 9 to 14. This May, the show pulled off a double-digit ratings gain, posting a 5.2 rating, up 25% over 2005. Avatar is produced at the Nicktoons Studios in Burbank, California. Avatar: The Last Airbender merchandise also sells very well: a Tokyopop cine-manga sold 500,000 units, and action figures from Mattel and Lego have been very successful.
