The International Movie Poster Awards have some overseas posters for Sony's upcoming animated flick Open Season, starring Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher.

The first poster is for France, and the movie's been renamed Les Rebelles de la Forêt (The Rebels of the Forest). It has the tagline "Le 18 Octobre, la Nature contre-attaque" ("On October 18, Nature fights back").

And you know that Sony hopes those cute little bunnies dotted in the background will do the same thing for Open Season as the penguins did in Dreamworks' Madagascar. Because, as we all know, everyone loves cute little fluffy bunnies. I do. Especially barbecued.

The German poster for Open Season renames the flick Jagdfieber (Hunt Fever). It's not that different from the North American version, except that it proudly advertises the voice talents of Jürgen Vogel, Thomas Heinze and Alexandra Neldel. This makes sense because who in Germany really cares about Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher? Actually, come to think of it, who in North America really cares about Martin Lawrence and . . . ah, never mind.

Ultimately, these posters reinforce my initial impression that this is going to be yet another "wise-cracking animals" flick (a la Over the Hedge, Barnyard, etc., ad nauseum). Also, when it comes to CG animation, I doubt Open Season will give the guys at Pixar any sleepless nights.

Speaking of Pixar, here's a German one-sheet for Cars. It's a pretty sweet poster, despite the fact that I think Cars' USA-centric storyline will play in Germany like Adolf Eichmann at a B'nai B'rith dinner (here ends my Dennis Miller impression).

This poster is also educational. For instance, I learned that, in Germany, The Incredibles translates to Die Unglaublichen. This is something you can oh-so-smoothly mention at your next party, so people will think you're so very suave and worldy. Something like (spins martini glass significantly): "By the way, did you know that, in Germany, The Incredibles translates to Die Unglaublichen?" No need to thank me, you suave and worldly charmer, you.
