Paul Westerberg has joined forces with former bandmate/Guns N' Roses bassist Tommy Stinson on 2 songs for the Open Season soundtrack. This comes after the surviving Replacements' (Westerberg, Stinson and original drummer Chris Mars) reunion to record 2 new songs for a Replacements best-of compilation, entitled Don't You Know Who I Think I Was?.

The Open Season soundtrack features 10 Westerberg originals, 2 of which ("Love You in the Fall" and "Right to Arm Bears") feature Stinson. Pete Yorn and Deathray also recorded 2 Westerberg originals ("I Belong (Reprise)" and "Wild As I Wanna Be" respectively). Westerberg and Ramin Djawad also penned the movie's score.

The Open Season soundtrack hits shelves on September 26, 3 days before the animated film comes out in theatres. It also features Deathray's "I Wanna Lose Control (Uh Oh)" and the Talking Heads' "Wild Wild Life."

Paul Westerberg was the singer/guitarist for The Replacements, a part of the early-1980's Minneapolis underground scene that also spawned Dinosaur Jr., Soul Asylum, and Hüsker Dü. The 'Mats, as they were nicknamed, were highly regarded for their Stonesy grind and Westerberg's brilliant lyrics. However, they never translated that critical adulation into album sales.

After breaking up the band in 1991, Westerberg went solo, contributing songs to the Singles, Tank Girl and I Am Sam soundtracks. He also released several CD's under his name, as well as under his Grandpaboy moniker.
