Christopher Plummer, Isabella Rossellini and Lynn Redgrave will lend their voices to the upcoming independent animated movie, My Dog Tulip.

The movie, based on J.R. Ackerly's 1956 semi-autobiographical novel, is about a man's 14-year friendship with his female German Shepherd.

Actors Brian Murray, Paul Hecht, Peter Gerety and Euan Morton will also voice roles in the film. Voice recording begins later this month with animation to follow. Producers Norman Twain, Howard Kaminsky and Frank Pellegrino hope to wrap production by December of 2007.

My Dog Tulip is considered a classic of its genre. However, publishers balked at the book's original title, My Dog Queenie, since Ackerly made no secret of his homosexuality.
