Peter Lord and David Sproxton, who produced such films as the Oscar-winning Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit were made Companions of the British Empire over the weekend. The pair were honoured as part of Queen Elisabeth II's 80th birthday celebrations.

Lord and Sproxton founded Aardman Animation in 1972, creating claymation films on a kitchen table. They are best known for the Wallace and Gromit series of films. Their first feature-length movie Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit won Best Animated Film at the 2005 Oscar Awards.

Aardman's next feature film Flushed Away, which features the voices of Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet and Andy Serkis, opens November 3.
