The Cartoon Network and Adult Swim announces the upcoming Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II, which will air on November 16th.

Once again, Robot Chicken is going to that galaxy far, far away. The Cartoon Network's Adult Swim announced that Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, the brains behind the popular stop-motion series, are making another Star Wars-themed special, scheduled to air on November 16 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). It will be called, appropriately enough, Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II.

Seth Green is Bursting with Joy

"We're thrilled to get to make Episode II; it doesn't even seem real—getting to make Star Wars twice! We're so excited and bursting with joy," said director, and Robot Chicken co-creator Seth Green in the press release. Green won an Annie Award for directing the first Robot Chicken: Star Wars.

The new special will b a bit different from last year's Robot Chicken: Star Wars. That special, which recently received an Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour), used several sketches that had been already aired on network television (such as the "Spoilers" sketch and "Emperor Palpatine Gets a Phone Call") among new material.

"With this second special, we knew we had to do something a bit different, something more," responded the other Robot Chicken co-creator, Matthew Senreich. "With that in mind, we decided to focus on the bounty hunters a bit and explore their stories. It's a geek-fest for us all."

Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams Voice Roles in Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II

Adult Swim announced that Carrie Fisher will return to voice Princess Leia in the new special, and Billy Dee Williams will voice Lando Calrissian. Green and Senreich have convinced Ahmed Best to return as Jar Jar Binks, Seth MacFarlane as the Emperor Palpatine, Breckin Meyer as Admiral Ackbar and Boba Fett, and Conan O'Brien as Zuckuss, and Donald Faison will return, possibly as Evazan and/or Mace Windu. Andy Richter has also joined the cast as an as-yet undetermined character.

Seth Green, in addition to directing the episode, will also voice a number of characters, including Ponda Baba. As per usual, ShadowMachine Films’ Alex Bulkley and Corey Campononico will assist on the animation front, in association with Green and Senreich's Stoopid Monkey Productions.

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II is scheduled to air on November 16 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Fun Fact: In the first Robot Chicken: Star Wars, two people voiced the role of Luke Skywalker. Original Luke Skywalker Mark Hamill voiced the role in the "Spoilers Sketch," which originally aired on network television before being reprised in the special. Dan Milano voiced the character in every other sketch.
