Eric Mahoney's Samurai Love God plays on Comedy Central. Oh yes, and on your cell phone.
(Source: www.newsarama.com) As technology mutates and becomes more complex, the need to create new content for new media becomes greater. Now animators are hard at work creating content for your cell phone (or video iPod, or . . .). It's already a phenomenon in Japan, where schoolkids burn up their parents' cellphone minutes watching 2-minute animes. Technologists and creative types are now trying to get in on the ground floor of this new media here in North America. Enter the Samurai Love God. The brainchild of former ad copy writer Eric Mahoney, the self-proclaimed Sensei of Seduction dispenses advice on such burning subjects as acceptable wingman technique and proper lingerie removal, while battling dastardly foes such as romance destroyer K-Block and the emasculating P-Whip (voiced by porn star Jenna Jameson). The official website is pretty weak, with only a simple synopsis, company credits and a couple of images to interest surfers. The real action is on Comedy Central, which has a photo gallery, cast bios, wallpaper art, and eight episodes for free viewing. Overall, my experience with Samurai Love God was mixed. Comedy Central's buffering system makes for a less-than-stellar viewing experience. There are some chuckles scattered around the various episodes but the joke gets stale after a while. Also, the highly-touted 2-parter with Jameson starts out promisingly but falls flat later on. Sooner or later, someone's going to create animation for your cell phone that makes everyone and their dog want to jump on the bandwagon. Unfortunately, Samurai Love God ain't it. You can check out all eight episodes over here.
