Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang become involved in a supernatural mystery in Egypt.

Velma is working in Egypt with Prince Omar and Scooby-Doo and the rest of Mystery Inc. surprises her with a visit. Upon arrival, they find the Nile river has run dry. Aristocrat, Amelia von Butch, shows up and breaks into the Egyptian tomb of Cleopatra, unleashing the legendary curse of Cleo and her dead army. At the same time, Scooby and Shaggy come upon a secret society of people who prefer to live in the old Egyptian ways and worship the ancient Pharaoh, Scoobis. As the Scooby gang delves further into the legend and flee the "dead" army, what ensues is one mystery within another mystery within another.

"Scooby Doo in Where's My Mummy?" is a Cartoon Network TV release that premiered in 2005 with a DVD release done by Warner Bros. Pictures.

This is a good updated version of Scooby Doo, which fits in well with the 1960s original series.

The story is your standard Scooby faire - that is to say, quite simple. However, this movie is for children and, as such, needs to be viewed through children's eyes. Young children will be definitely be entertained by Scooby.

While the story is for children, the writers did not accurately depict modern Egypt. They keep the movie set in modern times, but use a more nineteenth century appearance of Egypt. So, if you can overlook this aspect, you will find it a good children’s movie.

The true highlight of this movie is the voice talent. Some of the original voice talent performs its age old recurring characters that offers a sense of familiarity for us older views. Legendary voice actor, Frank Welker returns to voice Fred Jones and Scooby-Doo And the great Casey Kasem voices Shaggy. Younger viewers will enjoy the voices as much as the old school viewers.

The rest of the cast is phenomenal as well. Ron Perlman does a terrific job as Hotep. Virginia Madsen does a commanding performance as Cleopatra. Ajay Naidu does a great accent as Prince Omar. Everyone is superb.

The artwork is bright, colorful, and vibrant. It is perfect for a children's film. And all of the characters look just like they always have, but much clearer.

The music fluctuates from good to adequate. The good is the original Scooby tune. The bad is a weird mix of Egyptian sounds and rap. It just seems out place, but not awful.

The DVD menu art is very fun and colorful. There are also several entertaining Special Features that children will enjoy, including National Geographic's Scooby Doo: The Curse of the Lost Lunch, Mummy Rap Music Video, Mystery Voices (a video about the voice actors), Escape from the Ankh Chamber Challenge, and Trailers of several other Scooby videos and other series.

If you are a Scooby fan or need something to keep young kids entertained for 75 minutes, this is the perfect answer. Be careful with younger viewers because some aspects of the movie may frighten them. I recommend screening it before allowing them to view it.
