Jerry Seinfeld goes live-action in a gutsy preview for his upcoming CG animated flick, Bee Movie.
(Source: movies.aol.com) Full marks for originality and funny as hell: comedian Jerry Seinfeld films a live-action trailer for his upcoming CG animated flick, Bee Movie. Much like many Pixar trailers, this preview shows absolutely no footage from the film, but unlike many Pixar trailers, this one is all about the star: writer/producer Jerry himself. This trailer puts Seinfeld and co-star Chris Rock in bug costumes, presumably filming a scene from the movie. For me, the preview has a very Mel Brooks quality: the emphasis is on physical comedy rather than Seinfeld's usual schtick. Apparently, this will be the first of several similar trailers coming out in the months leading up to the film's opening. How well this trailer will sell Bee Movie with its target audience remains to be seen, since I doubt many kids will know who Seinfeld is, much less have seen the acclaimed 1990's sit-com. I guess Seinfeld and DreamWorks hope parents will go nuts over the trailer, and drag their kids to see the flick. Either way, it takes a lot of cojones to sell a movie like this, and that's worth applauding all by itself. Check out the trailer here. Bee Movie opens in November of 2007.
