Speed Racer final episodes on DVD

Final volume of popular anime comes out on Halloween.

The 5th and final volume of Speed Racer anime will hit DVD shelves on October 31.

Lions Gate Films announced that it will release the 5th and final volume of the popular anime Speed Racer on DVD for October 31. Volume 5 will include the last 8 episodes of the series, and also includes (for a limited time) miniature license plate, inscribed with "Go, Speed Racer, go!"

Speed Racer was one of the earliest animes to successfully find a North American market. Anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida (1933-1977) created the manga and anime, originally called Mach Go Go Go. The anime was very popular, especially with NASCAR racers. TV Guide placed the episode where Racer X revealed his secret identity to Speed Racer as one of the most memorable moments in television history.

There have been rumours of a possible live-action Speed Racer movie, produced/directed by the Wachowskis and featuring Vince Vaughan as the enigmatic Racer X.
