Starz on Demand runs their annual animation fest, featuring Jennifer Shiman's bunny movie spoofs, plus Cars, Open Season and Monster House.

Here's the official press release for Starz on Demand's annual August festival of animation. It features a 30-Second Bunnies Theatre marathon, filled with Jennifer Shiman's 30-second parodies of famous movies (starring bunnies), plus screenings of Open Season, Cars, Monster House and Valiant.

Englewood, Colo., August 13, 2007 – "Two great animation festivals take place on Starz On Demand in August – the second annual 'Bunny-Palooza,' featuring the world premiere of the bunny version of Napoleon Dynamite and 'Starz Toon Fest,' an animated extravaganza featuring the Starz On Demand premiere of Open Season.

“'Bunny-Palooza' will feature all of creator Jennifer Shiman’s masterpieces including Superman, Brokeback Mountain, Pulp Fiction, Borat, Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2 and Titanic, as well as the world premiere of the Napoleon Dynamite bunny short. 'Starz Toon Fest' is sure to excite those viewers who are young at heart.

“'Starz Toon Fest' will feature a line-up of the newest box-office blockbusters, including the premiere of Open Season, featuring the voices of Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher.

“'Starz Toon Fest' will also offer titles such as Cars, Chicken Little, Monster House, The Wild and Valiant.

“’Bunny-Palooza’ and ‘Starz Toon Fest’ are perfect for Starz On Demand because they offer a line-up that will keep animation addicts tuning in all month long,” said Jonathan Shair, vice president of scheduling and original programming.

"The bunny spoofs kicked off in 2004 when Starz commissioned Shiman to create bunny-featured shorts of Freddy vs. Jason, Scream and Texas Chainsaw Massacre as part of its “Hare-Raising Halloween Marathon.” Since then, Starz and Shiman have partnered to develop a new bunny parody premiering each month. Each parody debuts exclusively on Starz On Demand and Vongo (Starz Entertainment’s broadband video download entertainment service).

“'Bunny-Palooza' begins August 1st On Demand, while 'Starz Toon Fest' is slated to begin on August 17th."

Well there you have it, folks. A whole slew of Shiman's bunny shorts, plus several family-oriented animated feature films showing during the month of August. As per usual for one of these festivals, there's a mix of good, bad and ugly. Jennifer Shiman's 30 Second Bunnies Theatre is always a worthwhile watch. However, Shiman fans can check out all of the listed shorts merely by clicking on her website over here.

Cars and Monster House are good animated films that bear up to repeat viewings, Chicken Little and Open Season are so-so, and you couldn't pay me enough to see The Wild and Valiant again.
