The Total Drama series is back with a fresh set of challenges, but still has everything enjoyable from the first go around.
Owen may have technically won the contest in the first season of Total Drama Island, but since he gave up his winnings for an all out search for even more money—which no one won—he opened up the door for a completely new season of chaos and reality TV parody. Fourteen of the original cast members are back in this second season of Total Drama Action, and they're all ready for more action, insane challenges, and of course, drama. The Total Drama SettingBeth (minus her braces!), Bridgette, DJ, Duncan, Geoff, Gwen, Harold, Heather, Izzy, Justin, LaShawna, Lindsay and Trent take the center stage, literally, as Chris' new challenges entail them to survive an abandoned movie studio lot and make it one day closer to winning one million dollars. Each day the teams will try to survive a movie genre, such as monster, alien and Western genres. Like before, the winner of the challenge has immunity while the other teammates vote one unlucky member off. But instead of a campfire ceremony, it's an awards ceremony. Instead of marshmallows, the survivors will receive coveted Gilded Chrises. The one voted off will have to head down the Walk of Shame and leave the lot in the lame-osine. And of course, there is a confessional booth in the form of a confessional makeup trailer. Total Drama Action Has the Same Wit and Charm Fans of the first season will not be disappointed with the action incarnation. The show still has all of the humor and appeal of the first season, including the random placement of bears! The only real difference is that over the course of last season, the characters have slowly developed new roles. For example, Heather is not the manipulative threat she used to be due to her antics from last season. Beth has new confidence, partly from her experience last season and partly because her mouth is free of orthodontics. Justin has completely changed from the quiet, super-sexy guy to the devious, super-sexy guy. Will he become the next Heather? One can only hope. Final WordThis season promises to be a long and hilarious one full of zany challenges that only Chris and his team of sadistic producers could think of. Those who loved Total Drama Island will not want to miss the next part of the drama. Total Drama Action airs on Teletoon in Canada on Saturday and Sunday nights at 6:30 E.S.T. and on Cartoon Network in the United States on Thursday nights at 9:00 E.S.T.
