Of course everyone knows about Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest breaking all sorts of records in its first weekend of release: the most significant being that it's the first film to make over $100 million in two days.

In animated news, Cars plunged to 5th spot, making $10,734,082 in its 5th weekend. This however put the Disney/Pixar film over the $200 million mark ($205,908,484), ensuring the animated film made back its production and promotion costs. This is bittersweet news, considering that, during the same time period, Pixar's 2004 film The Incredibles made $232,573,246.

Fox's Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties fell to #14, making only $1,027,020 in its 4th weekend of release. This gives the film a grand total of $24,754,492. At this point, it's doubtful that Jim Davis' fat feline will make another return to cineplexes.

Dreamworks' Over the Hedge fell to #16, making $650,268. This puts the film just shy of the $150 million mark after 8 weeks in theatres.

The surprising news was Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly, which made just $391,672 in its first weekend in theatres. What makes this news significant is that the rotoscoped film only showed in 17 theatres this past weekend. A Scanner Darkly made $23,039 per theatre. Only Pirates of the Caribbean had a better per-theatre take ($32,817).

Once again, here's the Top 5:

1) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (BV): $132,028,000 (NEW)

2) Superman Returns (WB): $21,850,000 ($141,677,000 after 2 weeks)

3) The Devil Wears Prada (Fox): $15,600,000 ($63,696,000 after 2 weeks)

4) Click (Sony): $12,000,000 ($105,921,000 after 3 weeks)

5) Cars (BV): $10,330,000 ($205,504,000 after 5 weeks)
