Barnyard, Monster House BoxofficeBarnyard is 4th in August 11-12 2006 Weekend Sales with Monster House in 10th place and Ant Bully in 15th.Paramount, Sony, and Warner Brothers battle for summer cinema- goers as animated titles Barnyard, Monster House and Ant Bully pull in the viewers.
(Source: Box Office Mojo) While the live-action Talladega Nights held onto the top spot for the second week, Barnyard: The Original Party Animals slid to the 4th position, taking in $10,069,000 last weekend. Paramount's attempt to horn in on the CG action has made $34,085,000 in its 2 weeks, well on its way to making back its $51 million price tag. Meanwhile, Sony's Monster House quickly fell to #10, making only $3,300,000 last weekend. So far, the animated film has pulled in $63,678,000 over its 4-week run, which means Monster House is still $12 million shy of making back its production costs. Monster House's woes are still nothing compared to Warner Bros.' The Ant Bully, which plummeted 7 spots to the #15 slot. It took in a paltry $1,770,000 last weekend, bringing its 3-week total to $22,381,000. WB hasn't disclosed The Ant Bully's production costs, but it's safe to say that the film is nowhere near turning a profit. Anyway, here's the Top 10: 1) Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (Sony): $23,000,000 ($91,217,000 over 2 weeks) 2) Step Up (Buena Vista): $21,065,000 (NEW) 3) World Trade Center (Paramount): $19,016,000 (NEW) 4) Barnyard: The Original Party Animals (Par.): $10,069,000 ($34,085,000 over 2 weeks) 5) Pulse (Dim.): $8,456,000 (NEW) 6) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (BV): $7,207,000 ($392,400,000 over 6 weeks) 7) The Descent (Lions Gate): $4,600,000 ($17,527,000 over 2 weeks) 8) Zoom (Sony): $4,600,000 (NEW) 9) Miami Vice (Universal): $4,547,000 ($55,112,000 over 3 weeks) 10) Monster House (Sony): $3,300,000 ($63,678,000 over 4 weeks)
