Studio Ghibli's lost classic Whisper of the Heart will be screened as part of the "Unshown Cinema: The Animated Films that Got Away" film festival. The film will be shown in the English dub format.

The late Yoshifumi Kondou directed Whisper of the Heart in 1995. Anime legend Hayao Miyazaki wrote the script, based on Aoi Hiragi's comic about first love. Despite not making many waves on its original release, Whisper has been rightly hailed as a classic, and made my Ten Essential Movies list.

Whisper of the Heart will screen on September 23 at 3:00pm at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica and on September 24 at 7:30pm at the Egyptian Theater.

The festival also promises that "rare Miyazaki promotional merchandise will be given away at the screening!"
