Even though the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse is going down as 2007's biggest bomb to date, the notion of 'grindhouse' movies is still alive and well among InterWeb geeks.
In honour of Grindhouse's box office collapse, humour site Something Awful (tagline: "The Internet makes you stupid") called on its readers to create 'grindhouse'-style posters to classic flicks.
The results range from the ridiculous to the sublimely ridiculous as legendary movies like Casablanca ("He thought she was gone for good. Now she's back and she brought the Nazis with her!"), Forrest Gump ("What will the freak mongoloid do onto her?") or even Beetlejuice ("We dare you to say it three times!") get the grindhouse treatment.
Even animation wasn't exempt from the grindhouse carnage, as SA posters did the dirty deed to such animated classics as Who Framed Roger Rabbit? ("Killer Weasels, hungry for blood!" "Illicit affiars!" "Who is Judge Doom?!"), Toy Story ("Demonic toys come alive!!") and even Bambi ("An Unholy Terror from the Forest!!" "Who can escape from . . .").
Definitely amusing stuff, although I'll take points off the guy who put together the Toy Story poster, using an image from Toy Story 2. Yeah, remember the old "rabbit ears" thing that DreamWorks then adapted for Shrek the Third? Yeah, that. It's not as bad as the poor shmuck who couldn't even spell 'inconvenient' (as in An Inconvenient Truth) but close.
Anyway, you can see your favourite movies get 'grindhouse' by clicking on the link here.
